Health Care Team

The Health Care Team at the Red Cedar Animal Hospital has been carefully selected for caring, compassionate individuals. Our team members enjoy meeting pet owners and their animals and go out of their way to make your pet's visit to the hospital happy and special. Some pets come in as reluctant patients and go out wagging their tails or purring. We enjoy what we do, and work in a playful atmosphere.

Bzrb Meining
Dr. Meining studying X-rays

Dr. Meining graduated from Michigan State University Veterinary School in 1985 after spending 3 years in the U.S. Army. Since then, she has worked in the Lansing area. As her own dogs have gone through their "golden years" she has developed a special interest in geriatrics. She enjoys working with pet owners to devise a protocol to keep their animals happy and healthy, with a strong emphasis on preventive medicine. "It's all about the human-companion animal bond. My animals are like my children and have greatly enriched my life. I want to share the joy of this very special bond with other pet owners."

She has actively bred and trained Gordon Setters for the last 20 years. Her dogs have been trained in competition obedience, tracking, field events, freestyle, agility and conformation events. Dr. Meining currently has 8 dogs and 4 Ragdoll cats. Dr. Meining has been selected as the top veterinarian in the Lansing area. She enjoys most outdoor sports, including hiking, biking, swimming, scuba diving, and windsurfing, as well as photography, stained glass and reading.

Jill

My name is Jill Betz, LVT. I graduated from the MSU Vet Tech Program in 1988 and have worked with Dr. Meining since that time. My professional interests are seizure disorders and natural supplements. I have 2 Flat Coated Retrievers, “Gracie” and “Coalby.” Rounding out the family are two cats: “Rico” and “Leo.” I am a founding member of the Capitol City Canine Club for Agility. I do many dog sports including agility, field work, obedience and tracking. I teach agility classes, assist with obedience classes and have been a 4-H leader in dogs for 10 years.

Jennifer

Jennifer, office manager, joined the Red Cedar team in April of 2003 as our receptionist. She is a graduate of Scottsdale Culinary Institute, Le Cord en Bleu where she obtained her degree in Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management and Nutrition in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her desire to work in a customer service position in a friendly and productive work environment brought her here to Red Cedar Animal Hospital. She grew up near San Francisco, California and moved to Michigan in 2000 after meeting her husband. She married her husband, Rick, in September of 2002 and her first child was born, a daughter named Evelyn Grace, on October 10, 2005. Jennifer has been recognized as the top veterinary receptionist in Lansing and now enjoys combining her role as a stay at home mom with her role as our part time office manager.

Emily Jarvis
My name is Emily Jarvis.  I am a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist at Red Cedar Animal Hospital.  I very much enjoy working with animals and their human companions.  I have a cat named Seoule and a rescue dog named Miss Rogue Hazelnut.  Besides working at RCAH, I assist in the Canine Coaches classes that are held here at the hospital.  In my spare time I love being adventurous, listening to live music and spending time with family and friends, especially my niece, nephew and boyfriend.

Jennifer McClain, LVT
I graduated from the MSU Veterinary Technology program in 2001, following four years of working as a veterinary assistant prior to graduation.  My house is full of animals.  I have three cats and five Chihuahuas (3 long-haired and 2 short-haired).  The dogs range from puppy to senior citizens.  I enjoy meeting people and discussing any issues they are having with their animals.  I lived in Eaton Rapids for the past 24 years and have recently moved to Lansing.  I enjoy creating scrapbooks, painting ceramics, and taking dance classes.
